About me

Laser tag fun with my CarMax team

Hello and welcome to my portfolio website! My name is Jeff and I really like videogames. I believe they are the best way to convey experiences and tell awesome stories. Being part of that process, being one of those people that made a player say “Wow”, is the main reason why I decided to change careers. Currently, I am finishing up my final year with Academy of Interactive Entertainment working on an Advance Diploma in Professional Game Development, Specializing in Game Design and Production.

Yeah…that’s a mouthful. It all just boils down to this; I like to help people make amazing things. In this case, video games. During my time with AIE, I have been the Producer on two student projects. Hockey at Pacific Science Center is a collection of hockey mini games that share some of the science and history behind the game of hockey. This project was completed with Pacific Science Center to help promote their upcoming exhibit Hockey: Faster Than Ever. Our second project, Artemis Reigns, is a first-person action game where players need to fight the corrupted forest in a cyberpunk style city. Crimson Herbicide is still currently in development until July. Please feel free to take a look at our progress over on our itch.io page. In the role of Producer, I have worked with multiple cross-discipline teams, planned and conducted Sprint ritual meetings, identified and removed bottlenecks, and completed projects on time.

Prior to making the career change into the videogame industry, I worked at CarMax for just shy of ten years. I worked my way from an entry level mechanical associate to a salaried Buyer, selected to grand open the Renton, WA location, and promoted to management as a Senior Buyer. I know what it is like to work my way up through a company. As a manager I was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the purchasing department. This included tasks such as scheduling staffing the store and off-site auctions, professional development of my associates, hiring and training of new associates, and the creation and execution both store level and departmental Action Plans. Before I joined CarMax, I was enlisted in the US Army and was a proud member of the infantry. I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA and served for a little over four years. During that time, I made one fifteen-month deployment to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I sincerely enjoyed my time in the Army. I grew as both a person and a professional. I can credit the Army for my “Let’s get it done” mentality.
